Kangaroo Daddy

Geoff and Katie walked to the el to meet me the other day. On the way home we realized that it was getting really chilly, and Katie had short sleeves and no socks! I picked her up out of the stroller, wrapped her in a blanket, and carried her for awhile. But then I got tired, and Geoff took her.

And then he realized he had a ready made pouch, just for Katie.

Rain on the Train (Not in Spain)

Last Friday I sat in the very last seat of the very last car of the el train on the way to work. I took pictures out the back window.

It's not raining today (or at least it wasn't when I arrived at work - I don't actually have a window in my office, so I'm often the last to know about any weather changes), but it feels kind of dreary in the same way that a rainy day can feel dreary. We're getting ready for audits at work, and this week has worn me out.

Katieroy was here

Katieroy was here

Last night after her bath but before being dressed in her pajamas, Katie grabbed onto the crib railing and pulled herself up to a standing position. At this point in her development, she usually uses five balancing points: right arm, left arm, right leg, left leg, and mouth. Not a tripod - a quintapod? A pentapod?

I usually don't like pictures taken with a flash (or at least pictures taken with my particular camera's flash), but this one is an exception. Geoff took this picture last night. (You can see my cropped and Photoshopped version here.) Geoff says that when he puts out his first album, this will be the picture on the cover.

You saw it here first.

Molly and the Mums

Molly and the Mums

We've been trying to give Molly some extra attention. She's been having a hard time since Katie was born, as evidenced by how frantic she gets at the mere thought of one of us playing with her. Too much attention for Katie, and not enough for Molly. Poor dog. At least now Molly gets to eat the Cheerios that Katie drops on the floor. And Katie goes to bed at 7 or 7:30 every night now, so Molly gets a little time each day when she doesn't have to share us with that wacky baby.

I took Molly out on the porch with me the other morning when I went out to take a few pictures of those pretty purple mums. She wagged her tail hard just from getting the minor bit of attention involved in having her "sit" and then taking pictures of her. See the blur of her tail behind her?
